| How did you get into paddling? |
I came to the Leam boat centre with an old friend to hire out a boat but the only things available were canoes and kayaks, so we took a Canoe! From then I completed a couple of courses and made the effort to get away in a boat as often as I could. When the economic downturn hit I was made redundant, and decided it was time for a career change, and used some of my redundancy payout to gain coaching qualifications. |

| Favourite Disciplines of paddling? |
I feel most at home in an open canoe. I love the tripping and touring aspects of open canoes, and the way it allows you to get out to somewhere remote and camp. I also enjoy paddling open boats on white water, and if this can be combined with touring then all the better! |

| Best Paddling Moment? |
I’ve really struggled to answer this one, but I had a trip down the river Spey in Scotland with a close friend who is a bit of a bushcraft expert and we managed to get fantastic weather, perfect levels and we used the absolute minimum kit that we could get away with. During that trip we were paddling down a small rapid and an otter started swimming around our boats whilst probably trying to work out what we were. |

| Favourite Paddling Venue in the UK? |
I don’t mind so long as it is remote and beautiful! |

I have 3* in both canoe and kayak, have completed my 4* training and am a Level 2 Coach. |

I actually just sold mine! I had an Old Town Pack and a Pyranha H:3 but am looking to get a Mad River Legend 15 and a Jackson Villain as soon as I can. |

Paddles?
|
For Canoe I use an Ainsworth C100 and a Grey owl Guide. I am also eyeing up the full carbon Bandit from werner. For kayak I use a left handed, straight shaft Robson Pogo. |

| Buoyancy Aid? |
I have a Palm Axis for Whitewater and a Palm Kaikoura for flat water, sea kayaking and coaching. |
|
| Cags? |
I have a very old Nookie X2 dry cag which has held up really well over the years, but isn't far off being replaced by a palm atom, a Palm Sidewinder shorty cag, and a Palm Tasman cag which I am currently looking at replacing with an Oceana from palm. |
|
| Dry Trousers? |
Thats a bit of a sore subject at the moment - my Yak ones have just started to leak so will be being replaced with the Nookie Hypr Pants |

| Favourite Paddling Product? |
The Palm Kaikoura Buoyancy aid would have to be my choice. It is made for Sea Kayaking but has all the storage, comfort and practicality you could want for everything from day to day paddling to coaching to those multi day trips. |
