Want to learn to kayak or canoe at your own pace, and at a time to suit you? Then this is the thing for you. You will get an hour and a half with your coach to work on whatever skills you like - whether you'd like an introduction to the sport, want to learn how to get the best out of a new boat, need specific help getting through an assessment, or are having trouble mastering a difficult skill. A private lesson costs £55 for 1 person (£45 off peak). You can book up to 4 people for a private lesson, at a cost of £15 per extra adult, or £10 per extra child. If you are buying this activity as a gift, and would like an open-dated voucher, just chose the voucher option under dates, and we will post you one. Your recipiant will then need to give us a call to book their day and time.

You can book a Private lesson at any mutually convenient time at Leam Boat Centre. At Warwick Boats, opening times are weekends and school holidays, March to September.

This course is for you if: You want some 1 to 1 tuition, or can't make it to courses due to other comitment, or you want to make really fast progress, or you lack confidence and don't want the pressure of a group session, or myriad other reasons!
For demo sessions or introductory canoe or kayak courses please bring the following: (For more advanced courses, info will be given out at time of booking)
In warm weather: Basic sports wear e.g. shorts and t shirt. It’s sensible to bring a spare fleece top just in case it gets colder than expected. On hot days don’t forget sun screen, and a sun hat is a good idea.
If it’s cold/rainy: A fleece top and tracksuit type trousers (jeans and hoodies are not ideal, as they hold a lot of water). A warm hat is a good idea for cold days. Waterproofs are useful if you have them.
You must wear footwear - old trainers, sandals, or wet shoes. They must stay on in the water, so flip-flops and crocs are unsuitable.
A towel and a complete change of clothing (and shoes) are required for everyone!
Wetsuits are not essential for introductory courses, but if you have one you can always bring it.
We provide buoyancy aids (compulsory), waterproof tops if needed, and all necessary paddling equipment. Showers and changing facilities are available and there is a take away snack bar.
Extras:
On the children’s courses we often stop for a short break mid-session, so it is worth bringing a snack and/or drink.
If your course lasts all day, then it is sensible to bring an extra change of clothes, just in case you get wet during the morning session.
For river trips, a packed lunch and drink is required.
If you wear glasses or sun-glasses, we suggest you secure them. Neoprene spec-bands are available to buy at the centre if required.
