The skills, attitudes and abilities of safe and skilful coaches will be sought-out in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere. You will be assessed, according to the criteria listed in the portfolio (the green pages), on your personal skills (3* standard in both canoe and kayak), and your ability to lead and coach a group of students, in both canoe and kayak. There will also be a written multiple choice test.
You are welcome (and encouraged) to bring your own students to the assessment, as having a group who you already know will make it much easier for you to show us your coaching abilities. We are also happy to provide students for you though, as we realise sometimes it's not possible to bring your own, especially if you are travelling a long way. Typically these students will be working towards 2*.
Candidates for assessment must have completed a UKCC level 2 training or transfer course within the last 12 months (or been granted an extension), and have completed their portfolio, including evidence of having completed the LTPD online module, a safeguarding course/online module, and a CPD unit (or a second 3*).
You will need to send us your completed portfolio at least 2 weeks prior to your assessment date – It is your responsibility to ensure that you do this (the earlier we get your portfolio, the earlier we can inform you if there are any omissions, and the more chance you have to get it sorted out!).
Times:
9.30am to 5.30pm
Dates for 2012:
Friday April 20th
